Restoration Days
Restoration at the Watershed
Restoration Day is a free, monthly event hosted by the Watershed Nature Center and our Restoration Committee in order to establish, maintain, and invest in the health of our three unique habitats. Volunteers help remove invasive species, establish native biodiversity, tend to wooden structures, maintain the trails, and more. The Watershed Nature Center consists of over 40 acres of three native Illinois habitats: prairie, woodland, wetland. A mile long trail weaves the three habitats together, while highlighting various observation points and social features.
We are always looking for experienced gardeners, farmers, master naturalists, woodworkers, novices, and anyone in between to join us the second Saturday of every month, weather permitting, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Restoring native ecology is an exciting, hands-on adventure – with various, shifting focuses to accommodate the diverse needs of managing three habitats within a city park.
